Gordon - Director & Building Certifier (JP Qual)

Qualifications MAIBS, AAIB, MQJA, MLGMA, ABDAQ, MDIA, Adv Dip Bldg Svyg, Adv Dip Bldg, Grad Cert Bus Admin, Qualified Building Certifier
Current Studies Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying and Graduate Certificate in Fire Safety Engineering

As founder and director of the company part of Gordon’s role is to ensure that you the client find our service suitable and timely. Gordon is a qualified BSA Licensed Assistant Building Surveyor with over 10 years experience in the private and public sectors.
Prior to founding the company in 2007, Gordon was the Co-ordinator for 3 years of Complete Approval Service (Mackay City Council’s Building and Plumbing Business Unit). Before taking the appointment at Complete Approval Service, Gordon was a Building Certifier in local government contributing directly to the building certification and building control process in the Sunshine Coast Region.
Gordon has gained a comprehensive knowledge of planning and building legislation requirements and their application. Gordon has been appointed as a Referee by the department of Local Government and Planning and has attended several Tribunal hearings as Referee.
In conjunction with his team, CBAS is able to service the whole of Mackay Regional Council area, and the Whitsunday Regional Council area.



Snow - Building Certifier (JP)

Qualifications MAIBS, Qualified Building Certifier

Snow is a Building Certifier. Snow previously was employed for 10 years by Mackay City Council at Complete Approval Service. Snow is well respected by the builders in the Mackay Regional Council area. Snow brings to the company a wealth of knowledge with over 37 years experience in the Building industry.
After 20 years as a qualified Builder, Snow decided it was time for a change and with his strong track record in both commercial and domestic construction and with the knowledge of building industry, he decided to pursue a career in Building Surveying. Today he is a qualified BSA Licensed Assistant Building Surveyor and is an accredited member of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors.



Peter - Engineer / Building Inspections

Qualifications B. App. Sc(Eng), Grad Cert Mgt

Peter is a well known local of Mackay. Peter commenced employment with us in November 2007and he brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to our growing team of certifiers.
Peter has spent the past 38 years in the Building and Engineering Industry. Peter is a qualified Mechanical and Civil Engineer. Peter was a lecturer for over 12 years at various universities in the Mechanical and Civil Engineer stream. While Peter was a Lecturer in the Northern Territory, he was a consultant to the transport and Works Department for the Northern Territory Government.
Our clients easily relate to Peter as he is a very approachable person who understands their issues and enquiries. Peter's strength is his people skills. While he is very capable of applying his knowledge he has the ability of conveying the solution to the give complete understanding to the client.



David - 4th Year Cadet Building Certifier

Current Studies Associate Degree of Building Surveying

David joined Coastal Building Approval Service in 2009 as our Cadet Building Certifier. David was previously employed for 22 years by Mackay City Council with his last 2 years with Complete Approval Service (Mackay City Council’s Building and Plumbing Business Unit).
David is a qualified builder with over 20 years experience in the Building industry and is well versed with the requirements of the building industry and what is required to bring a project together from the beginning right though to the end.
David’s outstanding study achievements include being nominated by Central Queensland University for the ‘Golden Key’. David is currently completing an Associate Degree of Building Surveying displaying his commitment to his professional development through this ongoing study regime.
In addition to his approval and consultancy role, David is often called upon to help clients in their interpretation of current industry related legislative changes due to his excellent ability to understand laws and communicate with clients on their projects.
David is married with a young boy in his teenage years. In his leisure time David can be found spending time with his family.



Nerelle - Director (JP)

As co- founder and director of the company, part of Nerelle’s role is to assist Gordon.
Nerelle’s additional role includes assisting the administration staff with the building applications from beginning to end. Essentially, it is Nerelle’s role to conduct the required searches for the building application.



Trish - Admin Coordinator

Qualifications Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Diploma Financial Planning

After developing her customer relations and administrative skills in the Banking and Real Estate industry, Trish decided to further her career by joining Coastal Building Approval Service in 2009. Trish is the Admin Coordinator for our efficient administration team.
The Admin Coordinator is responsible for: - Product development, Capital budgeting, Resources development and Employee development.
Trish’s role is to manage the building application from the beginning to the end, managing resources and personnel, collating reports, proof reading and project tracking to the final delivery and the invoicing. Essentially, it is Trish’s role to manage the building application files to allow the Building Surveyors/Certifiers to concentrate on the technical aspects.
Trish dedicates most of her free time to her young family and friends.



Annie – Reception / Admin Officer

After 7 years as admin officer and 2IC with various companies in Brisbane, and helping her brothers in the building and engineering field, Annie decided it was time to see how the building approval industry worked.
Annie approached Coastal Building Approval Service and became our Receptionist / Administration officer.
Annie has become an integral part of the Coastal Building Approval Service team with her unique ability to co-ordinate a busy work schedule while at the same time applying her knowledge and experience in administration to provide the necessary stability for the company to continue growing.
Being the primary point of contact for all client enquiries, Annie’s strength is her ability to quickly assess the client’s needs, and put them in contact with the right person to address their enquiry.
Annie’s duties include being responsible for the inspection process (booking of inspections, processing inspection results, etc), data entry, co-ordination of applications so that they are processed as efficiently as possible and operating the internal administrative systems.
In her spare time, Annie thoroughly enjoys any activities involving the great outdoors.



Tash - Admin Officer

Qualifications Certificate 2 in Business Administration

Tash is part of the administrative team. Prior to joining us at CBAS, Tash developed a variety of skills over the past 5 years. Undertaking her traineeship with Mackay City Council in the Human Resources Department and further employed by Mackay Solicitors as a Legal Secretary she has a broad knowledge of office administration and key factors in customer relations.
Tash likes a challenge and when the opportunity arose to join one of the mining giants operating the MT 4400AC’s Dump trucks she couldn’t say no. Taking a 9 month break from the office she commenced operating the mining trucks which hauled coal and overburden up to 250 tonne.
Tash’s duties as the admin officer and relief receptionist involves assisting the team to perform their roles, data entry, co-ordination of applications so that they are processed as efficiently as possible and operating the internal administrative systems.
In addition to the afore-mentioned activities, Tash will be able to assist in providing advice and direction to enable you to lodge your building and/or plumbing application.
Tash enjoys spending her free time with her family and friends. Some of her hobbies including Soccer, Touch Football, Hip Hop and travel.
